Soundscape

This project challenges students to apply visual design elements and principles by connecting music with design concepts, culminating in creating a three-dimensional sculpture using various media, expanding their skillset.

I chose to abstract the orchestral piece, "Ahsoka Leaves" by Kevin Kiner. This composition features a winding, abstract path flowing through the space, symbolizing the emotional journey and search for peace conveyed in the music. The twists and turns represent complex emotions, with varying wire sections reflecting the weight of the music. Line guides the path through a thought process, while violin and cello sections expand and contract in a poignant melody. As Ahsoka leaves, she feels the weight of farewell.
